U3 is a software and hardware standard to execute certified programs under Windows 2000, XP on special USB flash drives. The special USB flash drives also be called U3 smart drives. Only U3 certified software can be integrated in the start menu. The U3 standard guarantees that the software can be used on every computer also with simple access rights.
SanDisk and Microsoft wanted to create a U3 develop. Until now, however, no new system is available. The U3 Web site has been disabled.
